Get a load of Jonathan Franzen talking about his reading list: "Just when you’re thinking you’re intellectually alone in the world, something like [INSERT ANYTHING HERE, perhaps The Island?] falls in your hands."

When you think you're smarter than everyone else, you start seeing proof of it everywhere. In this, Mr. Franzen surely has a great deal of company.
